Journal scope and reach
POLONICA is a nationwide yearly journal, issued by the Institute of Polish Language, Polish Academy of Sciences in Kraków since 1975.
The journal’s scope is focused mainly on research in the fields of grammar and semantics of modern Polish; articles on linguistic methodology and theory; historical issues are also accepted. We prioritize articles strongly based in theory.
Most of the texts published are in Polish, but we also do accept articles written in English.
Since issue XXXV (2015), the electronic version is treated as the original edition of POLONICA. Articles are published successively in electronic format, available in early access. The paper version is published yearly.

The latest issue, as well as selected past issues can be bought at the Institute of Polish Language, Polish Academy of Sciences bookstore. When copies run out, the publication is made available on the journal's website under the Archive tab.
POLONICA is included in the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education index of scientific journals (70 points). It is indexed in the internet databases: Polska Bibliografia Naukowa (Pol-index), The Central European Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities, and BazHum. It is also noted in the ERIH PLUS list.

Publishing schedule

The journal is available in open access. From 2020, the journal publishes research articles under a licence CC BY-ND 4.0
Journal history
POLONICA, founded by the initiative of Stanisław Urbańczyk in 1975 and hosted at the Institute of Polish Language PAS, is a scientific journal dedicated mainly to grammar and semantics of modern Polish, focusing on articles strongly based in theory.
The journal publishes articles and reviews discussing synchronic and diachronic research on the Polish language, as well as linguistic theory and methodology. Traditionally, POLONICA has mainly included studies on modern Polish, however the journal’s profile has been gradually expanding.
Stanisław Urbańczyk was the first editor, and currently the function is performed by Rafał L. Górski.
Iwona Krawczyk is the editorial board secretary.
