- Text submission, prepared according to the editing norms (https://polonica.ijp.pan.pl/index.php/polonica/norms) is sent through the OJS platform: https://polonica.ijp.pan.pl/index.php/polonica/submission/wizard.
- The editorial board makes an initial assessment of the text, focusing primarily on its originlaity and compatibility with the journal’s scientific profile.
- In case of negative assessment, the article is not evaluated through the review process.
- For a text judged positively, the journal’s editor appoints two reviewers. In accordance with good editorial practices and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education communiqué of May 29, 2013 concerning criteria and mode of evaluation of scientific journals, the appointed reviewers are independent, and affiliated with research units unrelated to the author of article. What is more, the author and reviewers do not know each other’s identities (double-blind review process).
- The review is prepared with a deadline agreed upon with the reviewers. It is presented in written form, based on the review form made available by the editorial board (https://polonica.ijp.pan.pl/index.php/polonica/form). The review contains an unambiguous recommendation: a. not to print the article, b. to print with no reservations, c. to print with corrections, or d. to print with corrections and re-review.
- In case of recommendation where corrections are needed, the author presents a version of the text taking into account (or not) the reviewer’s comments and suggestions, as well as a separate file containing their response to the review. If the author decides not to follow any of the reviewer’s recommendations, they should provide a detailed justification of such decision. Corrections should be introduced using the „track changes” feature.
- If two extremely opposing reviews are presented, the editorial board may appoint a third reviewer, or make the decision to publish the text or not without external consultation.
- The final decision to accept or refuse the publication of an article is always made by the journal’s editorial board.
